What is the abortion?

Abortion (from the Latin abortus) is the interruption and premature termination of pregnancy naturally or voluntarily. In a broader sense, it can refer to failure due to interruption or failure of any process or activity.

Is a fetus a developing human being (a person)?

Yes. A human being is defined as any member of the species homo sapiens. Each

An individual human being has his or her own genetic code (DNA) that is singularly unique and that is established at the moment of conception. The DNA of a fetus is different from that of animals, birds and fish and even that of the mother.

“Not all meat is the same meat, but one meat is that of men, another meat that of beasts, another that of fish, and another that of birds”.

(1 Corinthians 15:39)

Evidence that the fetus is a person

Scientific evidence

Renowned geneticist Jerome LeJeune, M.D., Ph.D., of the RenĂ© Descartes University School of Medicine in Paris stated, “If a fertilized egg is considered not to be a complete human being, it will never become one, because it is I would have to add something. But we know for a fact that this does not happen.”

biblical evidence

John the Baptist clearly demonstrates that an unborn child is a person because “the child in her womb leaped for joy” while he was still in the womb.

(Luke 1:44)

God actively participates in the most incipient development of the person even before the child has human appearance. (Psalms 139:16)

“Before I formed you in the womb [I God] I knew you, and before you were born I sanctified you, I gave you a prophet to the nations”

(Jeremiah 1:5)

Post-abortion syndrome (S.P.A.)

The S.P.A. it is a post-traumatic stress disorder that many women experience after an abortion. They may display one or more of the following disabilities:

  • They cannot process the emotions related to the abortion.
  • They cannot process the loss after the death of their baby.
  • They do not find peace with God, with themselves or with those who participated in the decision to abort.
  • They cannot accept that they have the value that God has given them.

“For my iniquities are heavy on my head; like a heavy load they are heavy on me.”

(Psalms 38:4)

key verse to memorize

Acknowledge that God knows the unborn child personally.

“Before I formed you in the womb [I God] I knew you, and before you were born I sanctified you, I gave you a prophet to the nations”

(Jeremiah 1:5)

What can be done to heal the emotional wounds of a woman who has had an abortion?

Knowing what is going on in a woman’s emotions from the moment of the abortion, she can take some steps to start the healing process.

“He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds”

(Psalms 147:3)

How to heal a broken heart

God offers healing for every human heart. Even after we have sinned, there is a biblical way to get right with God and we should also try to get right with others.

Accept your personal responsibility. (Psalms 32:5)

Stop blaming others or your circumstances for the abortion.

  • Recognize that ultimately the decision to abort rests with the mother.
  • Accept that it is true what God says about abortion being the wrong choice.

Accept the memories. (Proverbs 20:5)

  • Decide to resolve the denial.
  • Recall the negative emotions that washed over you at the time of the abortion.
  • Discuss your experience with a trusted friend or sensitive counselor.

Support her with faithful and firm love. (Proverbs 3:3)

Treat her with respect, as a child of God. (1 Peter 3:7)

Accept the mourning. (Ecclesiastes 3:4)

Key passage to read and meditate on (Psalms 139:13-16)

  • Name the child, and accept that a real, living child was the victim of abortion.
  • Hold a funeral as a memorial.
  • Give your child into the loving hands of God.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the contrite in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).
